Steven is my name. So What?!
Why should you listen to me? I have something to tell you, something you may already know, but I'm telling it differently and with the most noble intentions.
I want to help you to be REMARKABLE.

You will find many books, lens' and hubs telling you to be different, stand out from the crowd. Differentiate yourself from the masses and stand out from the noise. But just how do you get to be remarkable? Ironically if I were to write a list and all of you followed it, then you would all become remarkable and therfor none of you would be.. Luckily everyone will apply their own unique ideas and experinces.
I have something to say.
It's not noise, it's very important.
There is too much noise out there.
If you want to establish a reputation for being worth listening to DO NOT make any noise.
By noise I mean another lens about the same old stuff everybody knows. If it has already been said, it has already been heard.
People love a good story. People like honesty, integrity and they love to feel they are learning something new. People stop reading and click away when they get bored because they have heard it all before. I'm not saying don't spread the good news. If something is great tell people, but tell them in a way that offers fresh perspective. tell them your way
You are the expert
or at least you should be.
You are an expert at something. I know a lot about wool and carpet design, but so do many people trough history. To stand out in my industry I have to be the best designer, or the best networker. This is not easy and it takes years of dedication..
So I have decided to stop trying to be better at something there are plenty of experts in. I have listened to the market, examined lifestyle trends, looked at the supply chain, and thought really hard. Guess what, I am now an idustry expert on how to apply sustainable business models and expert product innovation to a market that uses only 2% of the worlds fibre supply.
Not many people reading this page will care much about that. The point is I found a niche and I am making it my business to be the best in my small field. When I talk to my industry, people listen. I focus on the people that listen and I do eveything I can to help them and their business. So their business grows, and they thank me. Those that don't listen fall away and over time my network becomes very strong.
You cannot be all things to all people, but you can be remarkable to some people.
Purple Cows and Purple Sheep
Why we need all things purple.
Ok so Purple Sheep are not that original, Seth Godin's Purple Cow concept is just so 'on the mark' why bother creating a whole new analagy for an attention grabbing object? I'm a wool guy and I have to spread the great news about wool. Cows just don't fit my woolly mission.
The Purple Cow is one of those ideas that just oozes spreadability. If you havn't read about Purple cows then you need to get a copy. To put it simply, Imagine a flock of lovely white fluffy and happy sheep. To make it easy I have provided a picture.. What makes one sheep stand out from the flock, well nothing. As marvelous as sheep are, sheep in thems leves are unremarkable due to the fact that they are all very similar to each other. A purple sheep stands out.
